Why are you the best candidate for this position
My strong interpersonal skills, rich exposure to multicultural populations, and diversity of professional experiences in myriad of work roles resonates with the culture of AISEC and Ars nova. Each of these qualities is echoed in my work experiences and academic accomplishments.
Strong Interpersonal Skills: Interacting with rural population of Pakistan, I was part of the prestigious Laajverd Visiting School where I worked with adolescent students and teachers as well as fisherfolk communities from Gwadar villages to reform the infrastructure as a result of its destruction due to CPEC. Through integration of indigenous, interactive and inter-personal learning methods our team, using mapping strategies inculcated the communities with the larger surrounding of the Gwadar port. Such hands-on experiences have helped me understand one-on-one dynamics with different kind of individuals, inculcate a deeper sense of empathy and develop an ability to connect and effectively communicate with others, echoing with your ideology.
Exposure to multicultural populations:Actively conducting public speaking classes in over 5 cities of Pakistan, I developed a holistic understanding of conceptualizing problems of marginalized groups. Engaging on conflict resolution and critical thinking, I worked with students from over 110 nationalities and represented Pakistan at Charles University in 2019. Although the program was cut short due to the Corona situation, I took complete advantage of their online classes.
Diversity of work experiences: Working as a researcher, I collaborated with WWF and mapped water bodies in the entirety of Altit Village, Hunza. Moreover, I effectively facilitated reform in the local education curriculum of Kaghan Valley by introducing the project of “Revolutionizing Teaching Methodology in Naran” where 20 schools adopted the new teaching methods. I founded “Project Pehchaan” to engage and aware the society of Pakistan with the KhwajaSara community. Professionally, as a debate coach I helped developed public speaking and critical thinking in over 150 high school students as well.
Through an amalgamation of didactic and experiential courses such as Statistics and Data Analysis, Economics of Public Policy, LUMS has cemented my interest in helping to make the world around us safer and more accessible. It has also facilitated me in developing a critical, introspective, self-reflective and multicultural understanding of others. I hope to further these skills through the opportunity AISEC and Ars nova has provided by exemplifying the emotional intelligence, empathy and sensitivity required with making this organization even better.
