Why are you the best candidate for this position

As someone who has spent the last three years in various marketing positions in different projects, I have acquired a variety of experiences that make me a good fit for this role. I realize there is no same approach in marketing. When promoting advocacy or promoting a podcast, we have to understand our target market to truly connect with them. I understand the process of creating campaigns, from the ideation phase to its launch. I know the work that goes into it, the challenges that often arise, and the solutions that work best. Moreover, gone are the days in which we tell people products are good because of X, Y, Z. The best marketing campaigns are ones that connect with people. That realization alone makes me a better candidate than most. However, despite my experience in marketing positions, I have not had professional experience with the subject. Despite that gap in knowledge, I am eager to learn and looking forward to having a more professional understanding of the marketing industry through this opportunity.

In addition to my functional skills, I have acquired a unique experience in relation to Japanese people and culture. I’ve always been interested in Japanese culture and even learned it in high school and in college. What sets me apart from most candidates was the personal connection I eventually formed with Japanese people. Starting in March of 2019, my family became a host family for Japanese exchange participants. Meeting and spending time with them outside of a professional, exchange context allowed me to create a good relationship with them. These experiences have exposed to me parts of culture that other applicants may not have had. It helps me see our consumers beyond just numbers and relate findings towards real people. Given both my functional and personal experience, I believe I am a great fit for this role.
